As originally reported at Daily Coffee News, a green coffee from Panama recently sold at auction for $2273 per pound. We can only imagine what the final price will be after roasting and packaging.
Ultra-specialty coffees like this Geisha varietal are popping up more frequently, albeit at considerably lower prices. In this particular case, the grower had been experimenting with unique variations in the fermentation process that ultimately yielded “unprecedented complexity in the cup” and “…the sipping of the coffee evokes feelings of ‘multifaceted inspiration, erotic innervation, epiphany, possibility’ and ‘femininity.’”
That’s a big responsibility for a cup of coffee.
